HALO’s Outdated Water Fountains

The Homeless Assistance Leadership Organization (HALO) is a homeless shelter in Racine, WI providing shelter for almost 700 individuals. The shelter is split into a womens/childrens side and a mens side. With this in mind, as a volunteer at HALO Shritha noticed that the water fountains on each side of the shelter were in no condition to be used safely. There was rust, and no clear  indication that the water was being filtered. The children would fill up their water bottles in the fountain before heading off to school and seeing how this was the main source of drinking available to the residents of HALO there was a clear need and we stepped in.

Our Impact

On August 12, 2017 we hosted  our first show at the Racine Theatre Guild. The purpose of this show was to install 2 filtered water fountains with a water bottle filler, at HALO, on on the womens/childrens side and one on the men’s side. The water fountains are still being used everyday by the residents at HALO.
